La historia de la película muestra una vez más el viaje de mercenarios de élite conocidos como los Mercenarios. La pandilla todavía está dirigida por Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), quien ha trabajado con muchos miembros diferentes a lo largo de los años. Sin embargo, aparentemente Barney planea retirarse como líder de la pandilla Expendables. Incluso ha preparado a Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) como sucesor de la banda de mercenarios. Lee fue elegido porque ha sido la mano derecha y miembro leal de Barney. The film's story once again shows the journey of elite mercenaries known as the Expendables. The gang is still led by Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) who has served with many different members over the years. However, Barney apparently plans to retire as leader of the Expendables gang. He has even prepared Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) as the successor to the mercenary gang. Lee was chosen because he has been Barney's right hand man and loyal member. Succession is only a matter of time, precisely after Barney and the Expendables members complete the new mission.
Cerita film itu kembali menampilkan perjalanan tentara bayaran elite yang dikenal dengan Expendables. Geng tersebut masih dipimpin oleh Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) yang telah bertugas dengan banyak anggota berbeda selama bertahun-tahun.
Namun, Barney ternyata berencana pensiun dari ketua geng Expendables. Ia bahkan telah menyiapkan Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) sebagai sukesor geng tentara bayaran tersebut.
Lee dipilih karena selama ini telah menjadi tangan kanan sekaligus anggota yang setia kepada Barney. Suksesi itu hanya tinggal menunggu waktu, tepatnya setelah Barney dan anggota Expendables menyelesaikan misi baru.
